The inspiration for this painting was my grandmother's tea cup and her silver spoon. The rest of the elements came together in my mind during a sleepless night, as so many ideas do! I always try to think about contrasts of color and texture when putting together a still life. For that reason, I chose the warm glossy honey, the cool silver and the rough texture of the toast. I opted for a more classic composition to be consistent with formality of the scene.
